Ohio Mutual Insurance Group

Deeply Anchored

Ohio Mutual Insurance Group is based in Bucyrus Ohio, and traces its roots to 1901, when the Ohio Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Insurance Association began providing insurance to property owners across Ohio.

Today Ohio Mutual writes more than $240 million in premiums each year – covering homes, autos, farms, and commercial properties in seven states -- Ohio, Indiana, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine -- through a network of nearly 400 independent insurance agent partners.

Award Winning

We maintain the prestigious “A” Excellent rating from A.M. Best, and have been independently named six times as being among the top 50 insurers in the country by Ward Group – recognizing our outstanding operating performance, capitalization, underwriting expertise, and prudent investment strategy. In 2009 the nation’s largest association of independent insurance agents named Ohio Mutual as its “Company of the Year” and in 2018 the Ohio Insurance Agents Association honored the company with it's annual Eagle Award for dedication to the independent agency system.

These ratings and awards reflect the efforts of our agent partners, more than 230 dedicated associates, and a stable, experienced, and forward-thinking management team. Our financial performance is among the best in the country – consistently outperforming many of our competitors in the property and casualty insurance industry.
