Staff Accountant
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To oversee monthly close process; to prepare monthly financial reports, journal entries and general ledger account reconciliation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and completes monthly close responsibilities ensuring accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Prepares both standard and adhoc entries to the general ledger system.
- Reviews general ledger system entries from accounting staff and offshore teams to ensure accuracy.
- Prepares and reviews monthly balance sheet reconciliations and researches issues as necessary.
- Assists in establishment and maintenance of appropriate accounting documentation, systems, and internal controls, processes, and data.
- Provides research on new and existing accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Monitors and maintains compliance with company policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Assists with external audits.
- Works closely with other departments as needed to complete special projects as needed.
- Communicates issues and other applicable information to management.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
BS/BA degree or equivalent with major in accounting required.
Experience
(1) year accounting and financial reporting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of accounting principles, regulations and practices
- Obtain and maintain expertise of financial systems such as SAP and other systems utilized in the consolidations of the company’s financial statements
- Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products (intermediate Excel level)
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
