Job Description

Manage, direct and develop the Commercial and Specialty Lines operation and service functions. Provide individual and group development to the Commercial and Specialty Underwriting Support Specialist teams and supervisors through coaching and leadership. Responsible for the overall service delivery of Commercial and Specialty transactions.

Job Requirements:


In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Directly manage Commercial and Specialty USS supervisors
  • Establish measurable performance goals and hold associates accountable for results
  • Handle and resolve staff and technical problems quickly and efficiently
  • Support and assist the Commercial and Specialty continuous improvement team
  • Provide day-to-day direction and expertise regarding service and operation management
  • Oversee support and training including new staff and existing staff in response to changing roles, business processes and application functionality
  • Maintain strong relationships and communications with Commercial and Specialty UW management and underwriters
  • Collaborate with other SECURA managers specifically in Personal and Farm Ag, Billing, IT as well as Project Management Office
  • Seek out customer feedback, analyze information, and develop and implement solutions
  • Actively participate in key projects as assigned by Director – Underwriting Services
  •  Foster and maintain an effective and positive team environment

  • Leadership ability with a focus on integrity, trust and collaboration
  • Self-starter to lead change and make independent and informed decisions
  • Strong organization and advanced problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 2 years of operations supervisory experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training
  • CPCU or other professional insurance designations
