VP - Catastrophe Manager

Catastrophic Risk Manager for US workers’ compensation portfolio. Successful candidate will report to Chief Underwriting Officer, Chubb Risk Management and serve in referral underwriting group.

Candidates must be experienced in catastrophe modeling and managing related risk of workers’ compensation exposures for Fortune 1000 (or comparable) clients while also having portfolio management experience for commercial exposures (middle market and small businesses).

Duties include:

• Manage a team of catastrophe analysts
• Intake referrals outside field CAT authority for risks being quoted
• Prepare referrals to Corporate CAT and Senior Management as needed
• Prepare company in-force exposure data for US WC portfolio
• Liaise with Corporate Event Response Team in the event of a catastrophe
• Monitor catastrophe exposure changes, run models, and analyze results
• Maintain/update internal processes for managing risk
• Serve as a knowledge expert in internal and external discussion
• Ensure compliance with established modeling best practices; develop new practices
• Work externally with reinsurance brokers and analytics teams
• Product Owner for the US WC application

Preferred candidates will be proficient in the areas of:

• Catastrophic Modeling, with a focus on casualty exposures and casualty perils of concern
• Actuarial Analysis, with an ability to work jointly with underwriters and actuaries
• Data Analytics, with an acute eye for reading and interpreting data in the correct context
• Sales and Marketing, with expertise in explaining catastrophic WC concerns to external parties

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of catastrophe modeling experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, insurance, risk management, or related field
• Sound knowledge of forms, coverage, manual rating, loss rating, program design and casualty pricing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, VBA programming, and database management
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Strong leadership and sales skills
