Job Purpose:
 

This position leads the development and execution of our media strategy to meet business goals by developing and implementing successful media strategies across various platforms to enhance brand visibility, engagement, and revenue generation across the sales funnel and customer life cycle.

Working with their team, the VP, Marketing Media will develop holistic strategies across media and sales channels to support business goals for the enterprise and business segments, across both B2B and B2C audiences. These media strategies will support all phases of the marketing funnel, from awareness to engagement, conversion, payment, onboarding, retention, and customer marketing. The VP, Marketing Media is accountable for $250M media spend to drive revenue to achieve business objectives. Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, this role will closely partner and collaborate with business, marketing strategy, analytics, digital, and other leaders to ensure alignment and execution of marketing strategies to drive business growth and objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive media strategies and plans to meet the company’s business goals and reach our specific target audiences. Sub-teams within Media will focus on several distinct types of media and marketing support, including direct mail, digital media and email, advisor support and customer marketing.
  • Serve as a key partner to the VP, Marketing Strategy, bringing forward the best of the marketing media world to their needs for integrated marketing strategies to drive business results.
  • Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of media agencies and partners to reach our target audiences; effectively lead these relationships to negotiate rates and contracts and drive results, including ROAS (return on ad spend) improvement over time.
  • Lead the planning, negotiation and execution of media buying across traditional and digital channels, ensuring optimal reach and cost effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Business Analytics team to design media tests, read results, set overall media KPIs, define attribution models, and more.
  • Work closely with Data and Analytics team to access compliant and effective data to build, test, and maintain models to reach target audiences most effectively.
  • Understand TruStage’s target audiences and their partner/consumer journeys to effectively build and execute B2B and B2C media plans.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the media team. Responsible for developing talent and ensuring strong talent flow and pipeline for the broader media function including succession plans.
  • Optimize and manage marketing processes to drive consistency and efficiency and to ensure on-time, effective marketing campaigns across media, including circulation selection, depth of file analyses, marketing allowables, test design, and more.
  • Manage large-scale media budgets; align processes and decisions with expense management best practices. Develop deep knowledge of deferred media costs and work cooperatively with Finance partners to ensure Op Gain impacts of media decisions are optimized.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies to inform media strategy and tactics. Anticipate needs and translate them into breakthrough strategies.
  • Analyze media performance metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and brand representation across all media channels.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in large scale, consumer, and B2B Media environment.
  • Significant experience across digital, Direct Mail, and other media to reach B2B and B2C audiences. 
  • Agency management experience.
  • Proficiency in media planning, maintaining a media calendar, and buying tools/software.
  • Deep understanding of traditional and digital media landscapes, including emerging trends and technologies.
  • Significant experience working collaboratively with Analytics and Data Science, especially setting media measurements, attribution models, targeting models, and more.
  • Ability to translate strategy into action with solid planning and execution. Highly developed presentation skills and ability to tell “data stories” Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to build and nurture strong relationships across the enterprise with business marketing leaders, strategy, product, analytics, partner distribution, data, finance, and other matrixed teams.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating, coaching, and developing high potential individuals and teams in a cross-functional and matrix environment.
  • Proven success in collaborating and influencing others in a rapidly changing environment; demonstrated ability to lead others through change.
