Job Purpose:

Official job description title is IT Manager -Talent
 

This position is responsible for providing people leadership to staff on software delivery and/or service teams. The IT Manager – Talent will develop individuals and teams in a product, operations, or service area, in coordination with their peer(s) and other leadership team members.  The IT Manager – Talent will focus on employee engagement, career movement, and upskilling of individuals across the Technology Organization.

Job Responsibilities:
 

Personnel Management and Development

  • Promote an atmosphere of confidence and trust with direct reports and empowers, engages, and motivates teams to fulfill delivery needs.
  • Embraces an environment for personal growth and continuous learning; aligns goals to organizational objectives and delivers ongoing assessment of employee’s performance related to their goals.
  • Accountable for strategic proposals on team composition and headcount to both align to and support business and technical roadmaps.
  • Removes impediments and resolves organizational issues within their area.
  • Fosters a culture that embraces engineering mindset, growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Proven experience with innovation resulting in high quality, secure, and outcome-based value delivery.
  • Establishes and matures various Communities of Practice (CoP).
  • Accountable for composition of teams within their area; hiring, development, performance management.
  • Identifies and develops data and metrics to elevate coaching discussions as it relates to team and individual performance.
  • Seeks knowledge on trends in industry and technology to staff or upskill teams.
  • Ensure staff are skilled and compliant with required controls and best practices such as corporate policies, security, privacy, regulatory, architectural, etc.

Participating in Product/Service Implementation

  • Participate in solving complex problems that require the highest technical skills, in partnership or consultation with other technical or business experts.
  • Partners with Scrum Master(s) (or other IT Agility Leader) in continuously evaluating team maturity, health, performance, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Product and Delivery and/or Service/Infrastructure leadership in identifying the most suited employee and/or skill for the required work in agile teams, balancing individual development opportunities and skillset needed on the team.
  • Anticipate and design future agile team structures to elevate individual development opportunities and skillsets.

Job Requirements:

  • A four (4) year degree in computer science, business, or equivalent trade-off in related professional work experience.
  • 10+ years of technical experience leading people.  
  • Innovation and strategic thinking to be able to continuously improve and evolve software development teams and individuals.
  • Experience in the Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) as it relates to developing methods and standards and promoting work standards among other employees of the company.
  • Experience managing technical staff, interviewing, hiring and assessing personnel.
  • Skilled in the use of data and metrics to elevate coaching discussions as it relates to team and individual performance.
  • Skilled in innovation resulting in high quality, secure, and outcome-based value delivery.
  • Proven skills in coaching team members in the areas of performance standards and work methods.
  • Direct experience with Agile delivery methodologies and able to coach teams and individuals in Agile mindsets and principles as well as drive Agile adoption.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts in Agile team before they escalate (mediation skills).
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of trust and comfortable/efficient work environment.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.

 

Base Salary Range:

$127,700.00 - $191,600.00
