The Cincinnati Re division of The Cincinnati Insurance Companies is currently seeking a casualty reinsurance underwriter to join our Casualty Reinsurance team. Responsibilities include the underwriting of individual transactions and assisting in the shaping of the overall casualty reinsurance portfolio. Experience with casualty or professional liability insurance products is required. Casualty reinsurance underwriting experience and knowledge of reinsurance pricing models is strongly preferred.  

Be ready to\:

• assess reinsurance submissions for alignment with our appetite and business plan
• identify key exposures and structure reinsurance programs to adequately manage risk 
• ensure we have adequate information to understand the subject business, the requested reinsurance structure and to price the business
• evaluate proposed reinsurance contract wording and work with our legal department to negotiate acceptable wording
• work with our claims team in evaluating and identifying claim activity and loss trends
• work with our pricing team to price submissions. This includes identifying reinsurance structures and contractual terms, develop loss costs, quantify the impact of contract features, ascertain capital requirements and provide an understanding of the key risk drivers
• meet with clients, prospective clients and brokers to build mutually beneficial and sustainable trading relationships  
• provide support for accounting, forecasting and planning activities
• complete account documentation as required
• participate in special projects as needed
• meet our service standards and drive development and reinforcement of our Service Brand.

Be equipped with\:

• casualty insurance product knowledge
• strong analysis and problem-solving skills
• reinsurance pricing knowledge and experience
• ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• ability to work in a collaborative team environment, including effective listening and verbal communication skills
• professional, courteous and organized
• excellent communication skills
• availability for travel to meetings at client and broker locations, including industry conferences 
• ability to be away from office for work-related travel approximately, 30 percent including overnight 

Preferred Skills\:

• Microsoft® Excel and CRM systems experience
• prior casualty reinsurance underwriting or pricing experience
• broker reinsurance market negotiation experience 

You've earned\:

• bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, etc.), business or marketing
• CPCU and ARe preferred

Cincinnati Re operates from our Headquarters location in Fairfield, OH a suburb of Cincinnati, OH.  A number of our associates also work remotely in areas including\: Boston, MA; Stamford, CT; Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY, and Philadelphia, PA. 

The location of this position is flexible depending upon the candidate with Cincinnati headquarters being preferred

Frequent travel required in a normalized post-COVID environment.
