Zurich gives you the tools and support to construct a rewarding career.  We are currently looking for a Market Facing Construction Underwriter (Senior or AVP) to work out of Denver, Seattle, San Francisco office/territory. This role is responsible for: 
 

  • Underwriting construction professional liability risks for contractors’ and owners’ policies. 

  • Manage  customer/broker/carrier discussions on insurance programs and an awareness of the exposures driving the underwriting approach
  • Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and works with customers and distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions.
  • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
  • Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities


Senior Level Qualifications (6T):
 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support are
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    AND
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience working in a team environment


AVP Level Qualifications (7T):
 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    AND
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to effectively assess risk
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong broker relationships 
  • Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiation
  • Possess a high level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and or customer expectations with respect to required deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
  • CPCU or CRIS designation
