Overview

 

This Financial Analyst within the Specialty Insurance Finance Team will support internal underwriters, claims management and other internal disciplines as needed in evaluating the risk of contracting with external agents and brokers, Third Party Claim Administrators (TPAs), and certain captive reinsurers.  The Specialty Insurance Finance Team’s mission is to support the ongoing operational objectives necessary for implementing new and renewal business, agency, TPA and captive relationships, and helping to administer the contractual obligations of those parties throughout that relationship with attention to detail and innovative support.

This position supports the AVP of Finance and provides financial underwriting, analytical and administrative support as well as assistance with decision making related to contracting with new and existing agents, TPAs, Captives and individual insureds.   This position will also calculate and administer certain performance related compensation arrangements with the division’s agents according to contractual terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate the financial statements and financial reports of various agents, TPAs and other legal entities related to profitability, solvency and liquidity.
  • Evaluate the viability of the above as a going concern and elaborate the potential risks perceived with contracting with those parties over the upcoming year or more.
  • Calculate, remit or invoice the contractual compensation due or recoverable from the agents based on the contractual criteria and related performance.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing the Specialty Insurance division’s credit exposure with agents and reinsurers and any related collateral used to mitigate that risk.
  • Coordinate and interact with various agents, vendors, and banks to obtain and prepare monthly/quarterly financial information, reports, collateral and other information necessary to protect the division’s credit risk.
  • Update and maintain various databases and Excel spreadsheets used in relation to collateral tracking and financial statement tracking.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, and other Microsoft processing software tools
  • Ability to thrive in a structured environment by utilizing skills
  • Highly analytical and possesses critical thinking skills
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills via multiple different communication channels
  • Highly proficient in multi-tasking and workload management
  • Displays good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with both internal and external customers and clients
  • Ability to adapt in an exciting, fast paced environment with the potential for unpredictable deadlines and shifting priorities
  • A driven and motivated individual who takes initiative and is eager to learn
  • Ability and willingness to manage tasks both large and small, visible and not visible in order to get the work completed thoroughly and on-time

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
    Reinsurance Accounting and/or collateral administration experience preferred
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing financial reports, financial statements and contract wording
