About the Role.

As a Senior Underwriter - Southwest, you’ll be at the forefront of our underwriting team, driving success and profitability in our Southwest region. Reporting directly to the Southwest Regional Underwriting Manager, you’ll take charge of growing and managing a robust book of business. This role is all about building strong partnerships with brokers, collaborating with talented colleagues, and making strategic decisions. 

What You’ll Do. 

Business Management: 

  • Lead the planning and budgeting for your book of business, ensuring every decision aligns with our growth objectives. 

  • Keep your finger on the pulse of market conditions and the competitive landscape, using this insight to guide your strategies. 

  • Track and report performance. 

Broker Partnership: 

  • Forge and nurture powerful relationships with top brokers, positioning PURE as their go-to partner. 

  • Develop innovative strategies and set ambitious goals for agents, monitoring progress and driving success. 

  • Deliver exceptional service, ensuring brokers feel supported, informed, and confident in their partnership with us. 

  • Share your expertise and best practices, becoming a trusted advisor to brokers and helping them craft tailored solutions for their clients. 

  • Underwrite with empathy, always considering the client’s needs and the broader market environment. 

Underwriting Execution: 

  • Take charge of new and renewal underwriting, selecting risks that align with PURE’s strategic goals and guidelines. 

  • Operate within your authority, meticulously documenting decisions and ensuring timely follow-ups on all accounts, and closing new business.  

Underwriting Referrals: 

  • Responsible for delivering excellent referral service to more junior Underwriters on the Underwriting team, and assisting in their development.  

What We’re Looking For.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (preferred, but not required), with a minimum of 5 years Underwriting experience. 

  • A proven track record of technical expertise and deep product-specific knowledge. 

  • Strong analytical skills paired with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities. 

  • A natural talent for sales and marketing, with a passion for building relationships and driving business growth. 

 

This is a hybrid role based in our Scottsdale office, where you’ll collaborate with a passionate team twice a week, blending the best of in-office and remote work to support your success. 

 

The base salary for this role can range from $75k-$90k, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
