Linde Insurance managers work to provide financial mitigation to Linde and its Directors for costs incurred by insurable events while taking account of the Company’s ability to absorb losses. The overriding purpose is to protect the Company from catastrophic operational loss, place cost effective insurance and to maximize its position in claims exposure and recovery.


  • Ownership for the implementation and management of Linde’s suite of insurance programs (both global and local) with specific focus in this role on global Property and Motor programs.
  • Full responsibility within focus programs for:
    • Identifying insurable risks and developing cost effective strategies to mitigate
    • Design of insurance program, scope of coverage and internal data collection needs
    • Management and coordination of the work of insurance brokers supporting the company
    • Negotiation of policy contracts and commercial content with brokers and insurers
    • Creation of the premium allocation for the global programs
    • Acting as the central point of expertise for insurance queries of Linde companies worldwide
    • Management and oversight of claims settlement and support for Linde companies and insurance brokers
    • Participate as insurance expert in internal teams including those related to due diligence/future strategy in M&A projects and those linked to commercial contract discussions with customers
  • Key contributor to daily department operations; supporting third party service provider selection, negotiations and contract development, budget preparation, cost management, allocation and invoicing, operational enhancements and strategic projects in the insurance field and cross training of department colleagues to enhance teamwork and knowledge.

Job Requirements:


  • 5+ years professional experience in designing, securing, and managing a complex, multi-jurisdiction insurance program gained either with an insurer, broker or multinational corporate; to include assessment of as-is risks, the value of risk transfer, coordination of losses and claims and follow-up monitoring and control
  • Direct experience of managing property insurance claims would be an advantage
  • Experience in selection, management, and coordination of third-party agents (brokers, loss adjustors, actuaries)
  • Demonstrated experience in advising and communicating with non-insurance professionals to effectively educate and inform colleagues on the structure, coverage, and value of risk programs
  • Ability to work in a global culture across all levels of the organization
  • An understanding of the strategic added value of insurance and its place in a large company
  • Strong analytical skills to use data to underpin decision making
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with a variety of audiences including technical specialists, management, and general business contacts
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Strong relationship building skills (with business customers, consultants, and suppliers)
  • Flexible and able to accommodate changing strategies and conflicting priorities
  • Teamwork-orientated and organizationally aware
