Property & Casualty Insurance Company is seeking to hire a Complex Claims Attorney (remote-based).
The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating claims to determine coverage and liability. Candidates should have experience evaluating injuries and damages. Further, candidate should have a strong ability to reason, negotiate, and solve problems. Candidate should have a consistent attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with our customers and business partners.
Facilitates the settlement of all claims and suits within area of responsibility;
Responsible for adjusting claims and issuing payments;
Manages and utilizes time effectively to ensure department meets required service levels for positive customer satisfaction results;
Analyzing and applying policy language;
Reading legal documents;
Effective claim file documentation, claim coding and diary management;
Retain and work closely with defense and coverage counsel to create and execute on litigation/coverage strategies and budgets.
Effective and timely claim reporting (verbal and written) to other claim professionals/management and business stakeholders;
Attend mediations, trials, other proceedings and meetings
Juris Doctorate required;
At least five years of experience handling large and/or complex liability claims;
Prior experience working for a property/casualty insurance company or producer;
Effective verbal and written communication/negotiation skills;
Work effectively under pressure, able to comply with tight deadlines;
Computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to learn proprietary software systems;
Ability to work within a team structure is imperative;
Must be detail-oriented, highly motivated and a self-starter;
Interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal staff and external customers;
Ability to use relevant information and independent judgment to comply with organizational and legal regulations.
