Our Commercial Auto Claim Department is seeking an experienced Commercial Auto Claims Specialist to join our team.
As a Senior Commercial Auto Claims Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing an outstanding customer experience by using your skills to investigate and resolve first and third party commercial auto claims.
Essential Tasks/Major Duties
Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of commercial auto claims. Complexity ranges from physical damage only to litigated injury claims.
Determine liability. Recognize subrogation and salvage potential as well as any suspicious circumstances.
Determine coverage by interpreting the policy contract, all applicable forms/endorsements, and adjust all elements of the claim; including physical damage, total losses, loss of use, property damage and bodily injury.
Make timely well-informed decisions using good judgement and deliver decisions with confidence. Think critically to anticipate, recognize, identify, and develop solutions to problems in a proactive manner.
Identify and recommend suspicious losses to SIU where appropriate and potentially assist the SIU in their investigation and settling of suspicious claims. Ensure the accuracy of information collected and reported. Guard against fraudulent claims based on critical issues identified and accurate conclusions drawn.
Prepare accurate, clear, concise, and thorough file notes, reports, and letters. Maintain a complete and well-documented file in order to support the decisions and settlement of claims. Maintain an accurate and updated diary of existing claims.
Establish and update reserve amounts based on exposures. Negotiate settlements and authorize payments within scope of authority. Settle claims timely and in an efficient manner. Negotiate skillfully in difficult situations.
Provide exceptional service to customers throughout entire claim handling process. Provide timely response to phone calls, emails, written communication, and adherence to Department of Insurance requirements. Maintain open lines of communication with insureds, agents, and across departmental lines.
Coordinate and manage vendor services such as appraisers, rental car agencies, salvage yards, investigators and defense attorneys. Obtain necessary information from involved parties, witnesses and police departments.
Establish and build upon relationships with agents, underwriters, vendors, and experts.
Comply with all state and federal regulations, core values, and established processes and guidelines. Handle commercial auto claims in a quality manner delivering on standards of accuracy, efficiency, and service. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education. Participate in special projects or perform other duties as requested.at
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of personal or commercial lines auto claims experience.
Intermediate computer and typing skills including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Appropriate adjuster licensing as required in some states.
Must have and maintain home-based internet connection.
Will primarily work from home or in a remote office as needed as well as having the flexibility to travel by air or land vehicle on occasion to attend mediations or trials.
