Commercial Marine Claims Representative

Job Description

This Internal Commercial Marine Claims representative to handle claims for the commercial team. Claims will be reported and communicated to carriers and any updates or assistance needed will be handled by this person.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial claims amongst a group of retail producers and an MGA/Wholesale operation
  • Experience in handling all facets of ocean marine claims, including MGL/MOLL, commercial property, contractors’ equipment, Hull, P&I and marine liabilities
  • Effectively manage and bring value to the organization by serving as a resource for insureds during claim situations
  • Managing and supervising commercial claims and providing guidance to producers, agents and insureds
  • Participate in large loss meetings, claims/underwriting meetings and meetings with prospective and current insureds
  • Ensure effective and timely management of claims
  • Implementation of strategic claims management plans

Requirements

The formal education and experience for an Internal Commercial Marine Claims Representative can vary. However, the following are commonly required for this position:

  • A minimum of 3 years commercial claims experience
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and handle a fast-paced business environment
  • Flexibility with daily tasks
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Goal oriented
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experience in a business environment
  • Team specialist (Team Oriented)

Department Account Management & Service

Required Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 25%

Required Education: High school or equivalent
