Positions in this function research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. Provides management with statistical findings and conclusions. Identifies potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. Provides data in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and improve quantitative data analytics and set performance targets
  • Lead projects to completion by leveraging other resources/stakeholders and contributing to database creation, statistical modeling and financial reports
  • Interpret and analyze clinical data from various sources and recommend best approaches
  • Provide claims, premium, capitation and membership data and analysis in support of Underwriting, Actuarial and utilization analyses
  • Create and update automated processes for internal and external financial reporting
  • Analyze reporting tools to investigate sources of variations
  • Produce review reporting and summarize findings to internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of work experience in a corporate setting
  • At least an intermediate level proficiency with SQL and / or other statistical programs
  • At least an intermediate level of proficiency working with MS Excel including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, etc

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
