Job Description


Zurich North America is currently hiring an Underwriting Account Service Associate to join the Construction Property Underwriting team!  As an Underwriting Account Service Associate, you will support and work closely with experienced Underwriters in the review and analysis of risks. You will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your research and analytical skills to effectively assess risk and grow your career.  


We are open to hiring talent in our Zurich office located in Edina, MN or Chicago, IL. 

This position is a hybrid model working remote and on-site.


In this role you will be responsible for:


  • Communicating and working collaboratively with underwriters, billing department, compliance, coding, and other internal business partners.

  • Communicating directly with brokers via phone and email.

  • Evaluation of risk exposures/controls; loss history; assessing financial condition

  • Issuance of policies and endorsements, system data quality and handling billing issues


  Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area

  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis

  • Microsoft Office experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Detail oriented

  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability and agility to adapt to change and embrace new processes/procedures

  • Must be a team player

  • Able to work collaboratively with teammates located in other offices/cities through virtual applications

  • Experience in Underwriting/underwriting operations, claims, risk management or premium audit

  • Knowledge of underwriting processes - fully conversant with variances requiring customized analysis using multiple tools and references.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel - formula calculation

  • Experience with data collection and analysis
