What you'll do...

JOB SUMMARY -

The Insurance Analyst manages, investigates and resolves insurance claims based on coverage, facts, and damages. Collaborates with insurance carriers, brokers, internal clients and third party administrators and corresponds with counterparties. Ensures compliance with standard concepts, policies/procedures and regulations within insurance and risk management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
  1. Responsible for the accurate and efficient handling and resolution of insurance claims.
    • Examines claim documentation, confirms coverage, interviews/corresponds with appropriate parties involved in the claim.
    • Reviews policies, endorsements and leases/contracts to evaluate liability and/or limitations of coverage.
    • Determines appropriate claim reserves and negotiates claim settlements while controlling costs, including litigated matters.
    • May participate in arbitrations and mediations.
  2. Prepares accounting journal entries for the processing of claim payments.
  3. Completes and submits regulatory agency insurance filings as required.
  4. Pursues professional and technical knowledge through continuing education.
  5. Performs detailed analysis relating to causes of loss to determine risk trends and provides to appropriate departments for implementation. Responds to various insurance inquiries and requests.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in claims handling, underwriting or general insurance / risk management.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance lines of coverage (General Liability, Commercial Property, Professional Liability, etc.).
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problem areas and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to clearly and thoroughly document procedures, problems, and solutions.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
Work Experience:
  • 3 years Minimum related work experience
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to clearly and thoroughly document procedures, problems, and solutions.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Ability to identify problem areas and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance lines of coverage (General Liability, Commercial Property, Professional Liability, etc.).
