As a Healthcare Economics Consultant, you will perform critical research and investigation of key business problems. Using data analytics and statistical methods you will develop and improve decision making for the enterprise. You will interpret and analyze clinical data from various sources and recommend best approaches for its consolidation. As part of the OptumHealth Healthcare Economics Advanced Analytics team, you will support care delivery organization (CDO) analytics. You will develop targeted models to track, understand, or predict health outcomes for the organization. There are new challenges and bigger rewards around every turn.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development of data queries and extracts necessary for population health and network analytics data science initiatives
  • Interpret and analyze clinical data from various sources and recommend best approaches
  • Provide claims, premium, capitation and membership data in support of underwriting, actuarial and utilization analyses
  • Create and update automated processes
  • Perform evaluations to assess effectiveness of clinical programs
  • Analyze reporting tools to investigate sources of variations
  • Develop explanatory and predictive models
  • Produce and review reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, finance, statistics, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a bachelor’s degree in a related quantitative discipline
  • 4+ years of work experience in a corporate setting
  • 3+ years of experience in health care analytics and working with large data sets
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL query writing, with intermediate level proficiency
  • Basic level proficiency with SAS, R, and/or other statistical programs
  • Intermediate level of proficiency working with MS Excel including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree
  • Medicaid, Medicare, or commercial health insurance experience
  • Experience working with claims data and medical codes

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $71,400 to $127,400. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
