Our History

Founded in 1887, we began in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire, when many insurers refused to cover churches with tall steeples due to lightning risk. A group of Milwaukee businessmen saw the need for change and formed a mutual aid society to protect churches, properties, and their communities from fire - laying the foundation for who we are today. More than 130 years later, that same commitment to doing the right thing and helping people in times of need continues to guide us.

As a regional carrier, we provide a range of personal and commercial insurance products across seven states (Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Arizona, Nevada) through a trusted network of independent agents.We combine innovative technology with personalized service—giving our agents and policyholders efficient, dependable solutions and access to real people when it matters most.
