About the role
The Business Segment Leader, Professional Liability/Cyber Corporate Accounts, Financial Lines will be based in New York and report to the North America Head of Professional Liability/Cyber, Financial Lines. This role will support the development and execution of the strategies for the Corporate Accounts Practice (CAP’) PL/Cyber portfolio across the country. This role will manage a portfolio size of $140mm and lead a team of 47 underwriters including managers.


How you will create an impact:

  • Monitor the performance of all products in the P&L with an emphasis on growing the PL/Cyber portfolio
  • Manages the new business pipeline by holding standing new business target meetings for the national CAP team. Helps regional teams prioritize targets with the highest opportunity to bind and assist underwriters in getting deals across the finish line
  • Drive consistent underwriting best practices and procedures, in accordance with underwriting guidelines, to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy
  • Deliver profitable growth through effective risk selection; execute on rate, coverage and limits management strategies; drive targeted correction or remediation strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with Product Head(s) to develop and execute opportunistic growth strategies for high margin product lines
  • Engage in the execution of regional underwriting reviews of renewals in key segments at least 90-120 days in advance of effective date
  • Promote and enforce the accuracy and timeliness of data utilized by Underwriters
  • Serve as key referral point for field underwriting staff within stated authority; apply knowledge of market and industry to provide guidance on complex risks, exposures, and decisions
  • Ensure the proper execution of underwriting guidelines and practices across the product line
  • Support regional field underwriting staff through training and development
  • Promote the product line by delivering consistent messages to key broker partners and clients
  • External Visibility:
    • Attending conferences and broker events to position AIG as the leading market in PL/Cyber
    • In person leadership and marketing visits for each CAP region, where and when appropriate
  • Promoting a healthy risk culture through staff meetings, training, and promotion of regular risk reporting
  • Work collaboratively with all Financial Lines Product Heads, Regional Executives, the Chief Underwriting Office and Actuarial, Legal and Claims departments
  • Foster a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Serve as role model to all colleagues, leading by example as a senior member of the team and well-recognized brand
  • Will be directly responsible for the leadership and management of a team of Regional Underwriting Managers.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Proven underwriting experience in Professional Liability / Cyber and a successful record of selling products to clients.
  • Deep technical expertise.
  • Proven people management skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues.
  • The ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer and sales orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.

The base salary range is $225,000-$280,000, and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience and qualifications.
