Responsibilities

The Claims Intern will take part in Key Risk’s internship program. The program immerses you in workers’ compensation insurance business, provides you with the opportunity to showcase and hone your skills, enhances your business knowledge and professional growth, encourages networking and offers assignments/projects in specific areas of study.

 

Key Risk is seeking an enthusiastic individual who is looking to gain skills and technical knowledge assisting with workers’ compensation claims. 

 

The program was developed to provide interns with a valuable, rewarding experience that connects the knowledge from academics with the reality of today’s insurance careers. Interns then receive training about Key Risk’s products, distribution channel and company-specific business processes that will lay the groundwork for an intern’s comprehensive learning experience. Key functions will include but are not limited to:

 

Technical training along with access to work special projects specific to our Operations departments will be a key experience of this role.

  • Evaluate data for Medicare compliance, partner with Unit Stat on data review and update files for data calls.
  • Conduct investigations of workers' compensation claims assigned
  • Handle all technical aspects of claims, including coverage, disability benefit management, medical management, file management, subrogation and reserving
  • Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the Workers' Compensation Act and Rules and Regulations in jurisdictions assigned

Additional Experience

The Key Risk internship program will include social activities aimed at building strong networking relationships with fellow interns and Key Risk staff. Activities may include management sessions, team-building, and volunteer/community service opportunities.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

 

  • Registered undergraduate student pursuing a major in risk management/insurance, law, business, actuarial science or related studies.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to handle high volumes of work in a time-sensitive, task switching environment
  • Proficient personal computer skills and typing skills.
  • Commitment to increasing knowledge of workers’ compensation
  • Commitment to the duration of the internship program.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work onsite at the High Point, NC office.
