The Site Pollution Environmental Executive Underwriter works independently and autonomously on all but the most complex site pollution environmental accounts and cases, subject to required process oversight. Underwrites site pollution policies within established underwriting authority, evaluating risks associated with current and historical operations, hazardous materials, regulated substances, waste management, storage and disposal practices, environmental permits, remediation activities, and potential pre-existing or gradual pollution conditions. Makes analytical, data-driven decisions on whether to accept business based on information provided, including environmental reports, Phase I and Phase II assessments, regulatory records, loss history, site inspections, engineering reports, financial information, contract details, and broker submissions. Evaluates coverage needs, policy terms, exclusions, retentions, limits, and conditions, and prices the risk in accordance with underwriting strategy, appetite, authority, and profitability objectives.
In parts of North America, underwrites complex or unusual site pollution policies, including risks involving significant environmental exposures, distressed or contaminated properties, redevelopment sites, brownfields, waste facilities, industrial operations, transportation or storage exposures, multi-location portfolios, contractual liability, lender or transactional requirements, and policies with high individual line size. Policies assessed will focus on accounts with a high degree of environmental, legal, financial, or technical complexity and/or larger limits and premium.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
