Summary: 

Sr Java Developer with Spring boot framework experience, Cloud skills and AI skills Position.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with expertise in Java, Spring Boot, GCP, Kafka, Cloud Architecture, Bigtable, REST APIs, and DevOps to design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building microservices, event-driven solutions, and distributed systems in a cloud environment. Knowledge of Digital Assets and Tokenization platforms is a plus.

• Deliver well-designed, quality software in either an agile or waterfall environment
• Work on a team to ensure successful delivery of solutions that add value to Huntington's colleagues and customers as-well-as achieve business objectives.
• Understand business requirements.
• Communicate clearly with business and technology stakeholders to develop a proposed solution.
• Be the primary technical team owner of projects and project technical deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, and maintain cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, GCP, and Kafka.
• Build and support scalable REST APIs.
• Develop event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka and cloud-native messaging patterns.
• Design data models and optimize performance using Bigtable and related cloud databases.
• Understand and work with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, security, and product teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical mentoring activities.

• Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business or other related field/experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development.

Top Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/17/21 and Spring Boot Framework.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot Framework for building scalable microservices, REST API’s and distributed applications.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, development, security, and integration.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud-native application development.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Bigtable or similar NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of Cloud Architecture principles, including scalability, resiliency, high availability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar development tools.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and automated quality practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, deployment automation, and monitoring.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and Agile software development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of cloud security, authentication, authorization, and API gateway technologies.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tools, including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing solutions.

• Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize them.
• Experience with data structures and algorithms for time and memory complexity reduction
• Have experience with JWT mechanism for authentication, authorization, and data exchange.
• Experience with Apache Maven Build tool to automate the build process for the entire application
• Experience with GCP infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with GCP Products like Cloud Run , Terraform , Big Data , Big Query
• Experience in working on initiatives that involve business segments.
• Expert understanding of agile concepts and an agile mindset. Working knowledge of Scrum and Kanban delivery frameworks.
• High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility with leadership, team members, and business partners and establish effective working relationships.
• Ability to problem-solve to produce quality deliverables on time and on budget.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to multiple layers of peers and leadership.
• Experience with Fraud Technology
• hands-on software development experience in Java with knowledge of Object Oriented Design.
• In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
• Experience with J2EE, Spring Boot, Web Services, REST API development and consumption
• Agile development, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience working with a RDBMS like Oracle or MySQL
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Experience with development of RESTful web services using JAX-RS and used Swagger for REST API documentation.
• Build and maintain code repositories and code migrations using CI/CD strategies (GIT, SVN, CSV, Jenkins).
• Experience with creating and maintaining architecture for Restful API using Spring Boot.
• Hands on experience with writing SQL queries, stored procedures and triggers in databases via  Oracle and DB2.
• Have used Swagger and API testing tools

Nice-to-Have / Added Advantage

• Knowledge of Digital Assets, tokenization, digital wallets, blockchain-based ecosystems, or digital payment platforms.
• Experience integrating with financial services platforms, payment networks, or digital asset custody solutions.
• Understanding of digital asset lifecycle management, tokenized deposits, and emerging digital banking technologies

AI and Emerging Technologies

• Proactive in identifying opportunities to leverage approved AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies to improve solution design, code quality, testing, documentation, and delivery efficiency, while ensuring data security, regulatory compliance, and engineering accountability.
