We are looking for talented and driven underwriting candidates to help us achieve our growth and profitability goals. The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for developing and managing a book of profitable Commercial E&S Excess businesses. The candidate will also be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with our select wholesale distribution partners. Finally, as with all Coaction employees, they will be responsible for helping generate and execute true differentiated coverage and services for the unit.
Responsibilities
Account level evaluation, application of terms and price selection
Underwrites within established program guidelines and or underwriting authority
Works with Home Office Underwriting to develop and implement underwriting guidelines, appetite, and production forecast.
Sells the product advantages of Coaction in such a way as to differentiate Coaction from its competitors.
Actively engages our wholesale partners to ensure that we are aligned properly as far as appetite, opportunities, workflow, and profitability of the portfolio are concerned.
Identifies and communicates opportunities to increase workflow efficiency.
Drives product/service/selection/pricing innovation of the portfolio.
Conducts marketing trips to broker base on a regular basis and attends relevant industry conventions.
Ultimately rewarded for building a growing portfolio that is profitable and sustainable over the long term
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in business or a related field, or relevant industry experience.
5+ years minimum working as an Underwriter in the Wholesale Excess space
Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite with specific emphasis on Excel
Superior communication and organizational skills
Has established wholesale broker relationships
Advanced working knowledge of the E&S commercial excess products and concepts, UW, processes and procedures, laws and regulations, terminology, other relevant trends.
Successful track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale brokers.
Willingness to travel 10-20% of your overall worktime, depending on need and safety.
Demonstrate personal accountability and integrity, and an ability to build strong, productive relationships across business.
Strong decision-making skills, with ability to articulate the reason behind the decision and think on your feet.
Credible source of information and could challenge and influence decision makers with your excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter, who requires little management to get things done.
