Role Summary

Reinsurance plays an important role in supporting National Life Group’s growth. The ideal candidate will have a combination of analytical skills and a strong production mindset. This position is responsible for the administration of proportionally reinsured policies for all lines of business in accordance with the reinsurance agreements between National Life Group and the respective reinsurance companies. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and reconciling reinsurance records, files, and dashboards. This position requires attention to detail, ability to meet production deadlines, and an understanding of the financial impact of reinsurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and reconcile periodic reinsurance settlement statements (e.g., premiums, claims, allowances, reserves, and balances due).
  • Validate data received from internal systems and external reinsurers, generate reports and identify opportunities for standardization and automation, complete reconciliations, validate data and adjust as needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation supporting settlements, assumptions, and adjustments
  • Review new and existing reinsurance agreements, implement and or update
  • Interact with reinsurers and support relationship management
  • Support ad-hoc requests, including, audit, and regulatory
  • Key areas of collaboration include Financial Reporting, Risk Management, Legal, Internal Audit, Pricing, Product Management, IT, Operations, Investments, and other areas as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Insurance Industry experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business-related field
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle deadlines and changing priorities is a must
  • A team player also able to perform independently
  • Possess a partnership mindset and demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across an organization.

Base Pay Range.  The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors.  The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.

Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$58,500$85,800 USD
