Vice President, Director of Select Personal Lines

The Vice President, Director of Select Personal Lines holds primary responsibility for the overall client experience and outcomes within the Select Personal Lines segment, as well as the performance management of all individuals on the Select team. This role is accountable for ensuring Select clients receive consistent, high-quality service and that the team operates at the highest standard of professionalism and productivity. The VP Director serves as the ultimate point of accountability for client satisfaction, retention, and the day-to-day performance of team members, and requires a high degree of independent discretion, leadership, and judgment to drive results across both dimensions.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Oversight & Accountability

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the overall service experience, satisfaction, and retention of all Select Personal Lines clients.
  • Establish, monitor, and consistently maintain high standards of service across the Select Personal Lines book of business, ensuring every client interaction reflects HUB’s commitment to excellence.
  • Acquires deep understanding of clients’ insurance needs and objectives; critically analyzes coverage options to ensure suitability and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Oversee renewal strategies and account retention, applying independent judgment on coverage issues, renewal approaches, and client-specific solutions.
  • Lead resolution of escalated and complex service issues between clients and insurance carriers, applying policy interpretation and experience-based judgment.
  • Lead client and renewal meetings as needed, representing the Select team independently of producer or senior management.
  • Drive consistent coverage recommendations, appropriate limits of liability, and cross-sell opportunities across the Select book.
  • Identify and implement carrier programs appropriate for Select Personal Lines clients, consulting with clients on program benefits and facilitating placement.
  • Negotiate coverage terms, endorsements, and pricing with insurance carriers in coordination with the Marketing Team.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of personal lines insurance markets, policy provisions, and risk mitigation to provide expert guidance to clients and the team.
  • Stays current on changes in the insurance marketplace and makes proactive recommendations to clients and the broader team in response.

Team Performance Management

  • Directly manage, coach, and develop all individuals on the Select Personal Lines team, including Account Managers and Account Representatives.
  • Set clear performance expectations for each team member and conduct regular performance reviews, providing actionable feedback and development plans.
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics, identifying trends and taking corrective action or recognizing achievement as appropriate.
  • Ensure team accountability for workflow execution, service standards, and adherence to HUB Broker Standards.
  • Foster a high-performance, service-focused culture built on accountability, alignment, and recognition.
  • Oversee and approve renewal strategies and resolution of client and carrier issues escalated by team members.
  • Identify training needs and provide ongoing mentorship, skill development, and support to team members at all levels.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and talent development decisions within the Select team.
  • Builds strong internal relationships with HUB colleagues and external trading partners to support team and client success.

General

  • Supports business development by identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and contribute to departmental production goals.
  • Prepares reports and performance metrics for management as required.
  • Travels on company business as required.
  • Attends industry-related continuing education training and courses.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in personal lines insurance, with demonstrated proficiency in Account Management or service operations; brokerage experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience with direct responsibility for team performance and client retention.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence in a team environment, driving accountability and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and automated agency management systems.
  • Ability to work a regular, full-time schedule at HUB’s facility(s) and travel on business when required.

Licensing or Certification Requirements:

  • Currently licensed in good standing in required lines and states.
  • Current with all necessary CE credits in required lines and states.
  • Advanced professional designation highly desirable (e.g., CPCU, CIC, CISR, etc.).

Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
