WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Practice Leader, Management & Financial Lines drives profitable growth, practice strategy, and market leadership for Relation’s Management and Financial lines portfolio, including Directors & Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary Liability, Crime, Reps and Warranties, Tax, and Cyber. The individual in this role provides broking, sales and technical leadership across producers and service/placement teams, strengthens carrier partnerships, and ensures consistent execution of best-in-class advisory and placement practices to retain and expand client relationships.
A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR DAY
- Sets the strategic vision and owns revenue accountability for the Management and Financial Lines practice, including annual growth strategy, pipeline performance, organic and inorganic revenue generation, retention, and multi-year forecasting.
- Champions a consultative, insight-driven sales culture, driving sustainable client acquisition, cross-sell expansion, and long-term advisory relationships with key clients and prospects.
- Aligns Management and Financial Lines strategy with enterprise priorities, ensuring integration with broader growth, client experience, and market expansion initiatives.
- Leads, mentors, and develops producers and practice leaders, building a high-performing, scalable team and strengthening succession planning and talent depth.
- Establishes a collaborative operating model across producers, placement specialists, and account teams to optimize client outcomes, execution efficiency, and revenue growth.
- Provides executive oversight of marketing and placement strategy for new and renewal business, ensuring competitive positioning, differentiation, and alignment with market dynamics.
- Guides renewal and risk transfer strategies for complex and high‑exposure accounts, informed by evolving client risk profiles, industry trends, and market conditions.
- Sets and enforces standards for underwriting quality, ensuring disciplined, best-in-class submissions, compelling narratives, and consistent market-facing excellence.
- Cultivates and maintains senior executive relationships with key carriers, leveraging market intelligence, underwriting insight, and strategic partnerships to drive optimal outcomes for clients.
- Serves as a trusted executive advisor to clients on Management and Financial Lines risks, including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, and Cyber, delivering strategic counsel aligned to governance, financial, and operational priorities.
- Provides leadership on complex coverage analysis and claims advocacy, supporting resolution of high-severity or sensitive matters and reinforcing the firm’s value proposition.
- Establishes governance, operational standards, and best practices across renewals, CRM adoption, compliance, and data discipline to ensure scalability, consistency, and risk management.
- Leads strategic initiatives and enterprise projects that advance the firm’s Management and Financial Lines capabilities, market positioning, and long-term growth objectives.
- Performs other projects, duties, and tasks, as assigned.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics or other related field preferred.
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, underwriting, or specialty risk advisory with financial lines focus.
- Minimum 5 years’ Senior Leadership experience with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence matrixed organizations.
- Property and Casualty License from state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
- Surplus Lines License strongly preferred.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CIC preferred.
- Experience advising executive leadership and boards preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing national strategies and driving operational consistency.
- Strong relationships with carriers and market partners. Demonstrated skills in market negotiation and placement execution
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and others.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Demonstrated ability to think ahead and plan over a 1–2-year timeframe.
- Strong ability to listen, discern, prioritize, and negotiate with clients and insurance carrier representatives based on a deep understanding of relevant issues.
- Ability to evaluate and make decisions, recognize potential conflicts and observe appropriate precautions.
- Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
