Processing Technician - Commercial Lines

Job Description

Ensure accuracy and efficiency across the Commercial policy lifecycle.

Hastings Insurance is seeking a Commercial Lines Processing Technician to supports our Commercial Underwriting team by managing policy information at both the front and back end of the policy lifecycle. Working within multiple internal systems, you will complete detailed data entry, validation, and maintenance tasks that ensure accuracy, consistency, and workflow efficiency.

This role requires strong attention to detail, solid time management skills, and the ability to apply established guidelines while making task-specific decisions that support productivity and service standards.

Location & Schedule:

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role works primarily from home with a required monthly in-office presence at our Hastings headquarters. Additional in-person meetings may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Do: 

  • Interpret and apply policy information submitted directly by agents to accurately complete front-end processing tasks within the policy system, making real-time updates and validating entered information in accordance with established procedures.
  • Process quoting, new business, endorsements, and cancellations as part of front-end workflow responsibilities.
  • Evaluate instructions and information provided by underwriters, underwriting technicians, and agents to accurately enter policy data within legacy systems for back-end workflow processing tasks, ensuring data and process consistency throughout the policy lifecycle.
  • Support quoting, new business, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements as part of back-end processing responsibilities.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of processing actions within the policy system to ensure a documented audit trail.
  • Follow documented workflows and processes to make task-specific decisions within defined authority limits while maintaining process integrity.
  • Collaborate with underwriters and service teams to support high-performance policy administration throughout the policy lifecycle.
  • Support various underwriting initiatives to meet departmental and company objectives.
  • Actively participate in professional development, including continuing education and self-improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

What You’ll Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Foundational knowledge of policy quoting and rating characteristics.
  • Insurance policy processing or related administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
