Position Summary
As a Manager/Senior Manager in our P&C Actuarial Practice, you will work closely with our consultants and analysts to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions for our clients, including (re)insurance companies, large corporations, captive insurance companies, and state regulators. The candidate will have significant interaction and visibility with Oliver Wyman’s exciting and diverse client portfolios. This role offers a chance to work collaboratively with cutting-edge technologies, including AI, to deliver impactful solutions around more traditional actuarial projects involving pricing, reserving, and capital modeling.
Responsibilities
Project Work: A variety of projects could include reserving, pricing/ratemaking, predictive modeling, economic capital modeling, and warranty and loyalty rewards programs.
Project Management: Oversee new and existing projects with minimal principal involvement, serving as the main project contact and effectively managing client communications.
Analytical Review: Review analysts' work to ensure technical accuracy and integrity across various analyses, templates, and exhibits.
Exhibits and Reporting: Prepare exhibits and written reports to effectively present findings to clients.
Client Engagement: Actively attend and participate in client meetings as required.
Business Development: Helping to build and maintain strong relationships for business development activities, assisting in proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage effectively with clients and senior stakeholders, translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Opportunities to work with engineering teams to translate actuarial specifications into technical requirements and validate outcomes.
Quality Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal best practices, rigorously validating data, model outputs and assumptions.
Innovation Contribution: Enhance tools, processes, and methodologies to drive operational excellence within the practice.
People Management: Support the training, development, and mentoring of analysts within project teams to aid their career growth.
Qualifications
Required
Education: BA/BS degree
Experience: 5+ years of actuarial experience; ACAS or FCAS credentials.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written skills to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving capabilities to develop client-oriented solutions; intellectual curiosity to meet tight deadlines.
Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet project objectives and deadlines.
Microsoft Suite: Advanced Excel / PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
Preferred
AI Proficiency: Experience utilizing AI technologies for modeling and analytics.
Programming: Knowledge of programming languages (Python, R, or SQL is a plus).

The applicable base salary range for this role is $85,000 – $230,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
