Associate Underwriter, Workers Compensation

The BTIS Workers’ Compensation department is seeking Associate Underwriters with experience in a workers’ compensation environment to join our high-performing renewal underwriting team based in Rocklin, CA. In this role, you will play a key part in the successful management and underwriting of our renewal book of business, contributing directly to growth, retention, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and process workers’ compensation renewal accounts within delegated carrier authority
  • Manage renewal workflows across multiple carrier partners, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and process Broker of Record (BOR) changes in accordance with carrier and compliance guidelines
  • Support Underwriters with account analysis, documentation, and day-to-day underwriting tasks
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers and customers, handling policy and renewal inquiries via phone, email, and chat
  • Process endorsements, bind requests, and policy updates as needed
  • Maintain accurate and complete account records in internal systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a smooth renewal and servicing experience

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma required; additional coursework or insurance designations a plus
  • At least 2 years of recent experience supporting workers’ compensation operations in a customer service or related role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting directly with clients and brokers
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to analyze and interpret incomplete or complex information and make sound decisions
  • Resourceful with strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to navigate challenging situations effectively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Adept at working independently in a remote or hybrid setting while staying highly responsive

Pay range is $23 to $25.50 per hour and will depend on several factors including geographical location, relevant experience, skills and knowledge pertaining to this role and industry.
