Key Responsibilities:
Serves as a trusted, strategic advisor to senior business executives, shaping and delivering HR strategies that align with business-specific goals.
Provides strategic insights and coaching to address complex challenges and enable informed, high-impact decision-making.
Partners with executives and leaders to foster a workplace culture rooted in Nationwide’s values, creating inclusive and meaningful associate experiences.
Assess talent needs and support leaders with succession planning, performance management, and leadership development.
Builds strong cross-functional partnerships to align HR programs and tools with business priorities.
Leverages strong business and industry knowledge to develop and deliver integrated and connected strategies and solutions that enhance business results by focusing on key talent initiatives.
Designs and implements workforce and succession readiness strategies that attract, grow, develop, retain top talent in collaboration with business executives and COEs.
Leads complex change initiatives that drive transformation, equipping leaders with effective communication strategies to engage and guide teams.
Uses data, metrics, and insights to anticipate workforce needs, shape innovative, people-centered business solutions, influence decisions, measures results, and identify areas of potential risk.
Ensures responsible, ethical, and compliant HR practices align with regulatory and reputational standards.
Maintains high levels of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive business information and organizational matters.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Senior Vice President, Sr Associate Vice President or Associate Vice President, Human Resource. May manage a team of one to two HR professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in human resources, business administration or related field, along with HR certification, preferred.
Experience: Ten or more years of diverse HR experience. Generally, has experience in one or more HR technical areas.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven ability to advise, champion culture, enable talent, and lead change while maintaining confidentiality. Skilled in consulting, coaching, and influencing across all levels. Strong understanding of business strategy and alignment with HR strategies, excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Experienced in leading projects, setting priorities, and using workforce data to identify trends, influence outcomes, and implement effective solutions.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
