National Interstate is looking for an Accounts Payable Intern to join their team. This individual will work onsite from the Richfield, Ohio office.

National Interstate’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site five days a week.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist with certain daily banking and treasury management functions.
  • Administers the accounts payable function by processing invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments to vendors.
  • Reconciles accounts payable transactions and resolves discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Applies working knowledge of multiple accounting systems and external platforms to process transactions, generate payment registers, and produce related reports.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding invoices and payment status, fostering positive relationships with vendors and internal departments.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Assists with month‑end close activities and supports internal and external audits by providing documentation and information as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) program from a four-year college or university.  Some college level coursework in Accounting preferred.
  • Scope of Job/Qualifications: Possesses advanced organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrates solid interpersonal and communication skills.
