Please review the following job description:

Coordinates the servicing of new and renewal accounts from the time of binding in accordance with company and carrier guidelines. Prepares invoices and policy documentation, supports underwriting and rating activities, and proactively identifies and resolves issues to ensure accurate, timely processing. Delivers high-quality professional service to agents, carriers, and internal partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Underwrite renewal business with minimal supervision and escalate exceptions as needed. 

  • Clearly explain liability and program coverages to clients and prospective clients. 

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and instructions to underwriting clerks and policy typists to support accurate processing. 

  • Review policies, endorsements, audits, and cancellations; resolve discrepancies and coordinate corrections. 

  • Conduct rating for new and renewal business using approved methodologies and tools. 

  • Manage account documentation, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper retention. 

  • Review and process policy servicing requests, including endorsements, audits, carrier requests, certificates, premium finance notices, and cancellations. 

  • Invoice and process new business and renewal binders, premium-bearing endorsements, and cancellations in accordance with internal and carrier guidelines. 

  • Establish new submissions in the clearance system and route/handle them per established procedures. 

  • Produce cancellation and non-renewal notices in compliance with statutory and contractual requirements. 

  • Maintain underwriting files for accounts where policies are not issued and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation. 

  • Maintain pending/suspense and diary systems to track open items, deadlines, and required actions. 

  • Maintain account files in accordance with company policy and audit readiness standards. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support underwriting operations and service commitments. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required. 

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience is preferred. 

  • Experience expectations increase across the career path, with progression toward more complex account handling and workflow ownership  

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • State-specific insurance license is required; additional designations may be preferred based on role scope and jurisdiction. 

 

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 

  • Working knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting concepts, coverage analysis, and rating fundamentals. 

  • Ability to interpret policy forms, endorsements, audits, cancellations, and carrier guidelines; identify and resolve discrepancies. 

  • Proficiency with underwriting and policy administration automation, including Windows-based applications, Delphi, Microsoft Word, DocuCorp, and Rackley ISO Rating Software. 

  • Strong documentation and file management skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to explain coverages and coordinate with agents, carriers, and internal partners. 

  • Ability to prioritize, track pending items, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment; willing to work extended hours when needed.
