General Summary:
This position is a strategic partner who designs and delivers impactful, learner-centered solutions that drive individual performance and business outcomes. With deep operational expertise and a strong foundation in learning and development, this role bridges the gap between frontline execution and capability building. Learning Consultants collaborate with stakeholders to identify performance needs, develop scalable learning strategies, and implement modern, data-informed solutions that support continuous improvement and business success.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, and deliver learner-centered solutions that align with business goals and drive measurable outcomes.
- Consult with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and define learning objectives, scope, and audience.
- Leverage deep operational expertise to ensure training solutions reflect real-world workflows, systems, and performance expectations.
- Translate operational challenges into targeted learning solutions that improve business performance.
- Design and implement blended learning experiences using multiple delivery methods, i.e., e-learning, virtual and in-person training.
- Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create engaging, effective content.
- Use operational data (e.g., KPIs, quality metrics) and learner feedback to inform needs analysis and evaluate solution impact.
- Partner with operational leaders to co-create learning strategies that support process improvements and change initiatives.
- Manage learning projects end-to-end, including business coordination, stakeholder communication, and delivery planning.
- Facilitate learning sessions and workshops, ensuring high engagement and knowledge transfer.
- Continuously evolve learning approaches by integrating industry trends, emerging technologies, and learner insights.
- Communicate learning effectiveness and program performance to stakeholders, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Share best practices, lessons learned, and insights to strengthen team capabilities and solution quality.
- Model leadership behaviors and employs change leadership strategies to guide others through transformation and adoption.
- Demonstrates a proactive mindset for continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance learning solutions and business processes.
- Collaborates effectively across cross-functional teams to understand diverse needs and deliver impactful learning experiences.
- Maintains a strong appetite for ongoing learning and development to stay aligned with evolving business priorities and industry trends.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preference in business, learning & development or related field or equivalent related work experience is required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in operations, business, or learning and development.
- Demonstrated operational expertise in a relevant business function (e.g., customer service, claims, sales, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and consult across levels.
- Experience measuring learning effectiveness and linking outcomes to business performance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Naturally curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and innovation.
- Ability to adhere to a hybrid working schedule as outlined by company policy, including supporting the delivery of in-person training based on business need.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$53,300.00-$100,700.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
