The Family Office Practice Leader is responsible for building, scaling, and leading the firm’s Family Office practice. This senior leadership role owns the strategy, growth, service model, and external brand of the Family Office offering. The position is designed as a salaried practice leader role with no personal sales goals or commission, where success is measured by the quality, retention, and organic growth of the Family Office book of business.
The Practice Leader will serve as the public face of the Family Office practice, partnering closely with advisors, sales leadership, and internal operational teams to ensure a consistent, differentiated, and high-quality experience for Family Office clients. This role requires strong external visibility, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate a complex, fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Strategy & Leadership
- Establish and own the overall strategy for the Family Office practice, including a clear definition of what qualifies as a “Family Office” client.
- Design, implement, and continuously refine the Family Office service model, including clearly defined service level agreements (SLAs).
- Align internal systems, coding, and data to accurately identify, track, and manage Family Office clients, partnering with internal teams to address process and system dependencies.
- Drive consistency between what is promised to Family Office clients and how services are delivered across the organization.
Growth & Performance Accountability
- Own responsibility for the growth and health of the Family Office segment.
- Deliver targeted outcomes over the first 12–18 months, including:
- Greater client retention
- 15–18% organic revenue growth
- Improved data quality, segmentation, and reporting for the Family Office book
- Partner with advisors and sales leaders to identify, pursue, and retain Family Office opportunities, without carrying individual sales quotas.
Advisor Enablement & Client Engagement
- Participate in new prospect meetings and client renewal meetings alongside advisors (“ride-alongs”) to ensure optimal strategy, positioning, and resource alignment.
- Act as a trusted internal subject matter expert for Family Office-related opportunities, trends, and client needs.
- Coach and support advisors on navigating complex Family Office relationships and delivering differentiated value.
Brand, Thought Leadership & Market Presence
- Serve as the primary external representative and spokesperson for the Family Office practice.
- Build and execute a Family Office-focused thought leadership strategy, including speaking engagements, publications, and industry commentary.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, Family Office events, associations, and select invite-only forums.
- Develop and host targeted events or roundtables for top clients and high-potential prospects.
Offering Differentiation & Innovation
- Lead the development of Family Office-specific branding, marketing materials, and value propositions.
- Explore and evaluate proprietary solutions for Family Office clients, including captives and innovative risk structures (e.g., group captive concepts).
- Stay current on Family Office trends, evolving client needs, and competitive offerings to ensure market leadership.
Internal Partnership & Execution
- Partner closely with sales leadership, service teams, and operational leaders to ensure seamless execution of the Family Office service model.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to navigate shared systems, processes, and organizational constraints typical of a growing public company.
- Proactively surface risks, inefficiencies, or misalignment and work collaboratively toward solutions in a dynamic, evolving environment.

- Sustained growth and high retention of the Family Office book of business
- Clear, consistent, and well-adopted Family Office service model and SLAs
- Strong external visibility and credibility of the Family Office practice

Qualifications & Experience
- Significant experience working with or leading Family Office, ultra-high-net-worth, or complex advisory clients.
- Proven track record of building or scaling a specialized practice, segment, or offering.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence both externally and internally.
- Experience partnering with sales and advisory teams in a collaborative, non-commission environment.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving organization with shared systems and occasional ambiguity.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and thought leadership capabilities.
Additional Expectations
- This role requires a high degree of external visibility, including travel for conferences, events, and client engagements.
