Job Description:
Providing for loved ones, planning rewarding retirements, saving enough for whatever lies ahead – our policyholders count on us to be there when it matters most. It is a big responsibility, but one that we have the power to deliver when we work together. We collaborate and innovate – pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it is the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job; it is a career with purpose, where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future – including your own.
In this role, you will support complex initiatives across our Annuity Order Entry platforms, including Affirm, AnnuityNet, and Firelight. Specifically, you will translate product, distributor, regulatory, and operational needs into clear system requirements, acceptance criteria, configuration specifications, and implementation support for new and existing Annuity products.
We are actively seeking a Sr Systems Analyst to join our Distribution Partner Integration (DPI) team in support of the Consumer Markets Division, based in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be hybrid or fully remote.
How you’ll help move us forward:
• Analyze business, product, distributor, and regulatory requirements to support Annuity product onboarding and maintenance across Order Entry platforms.
• Support distributor Annuity product onboarding and ongoing product maintenance, including configuration validation, testing coordination, and issue resolution.
• Develop clear technical configuration requirements for Affirm, AnnuityNet, Firelight, and related platform capabilities.
• Define acceptance criteria and partner with development, testing, operations, compliance, and product teams to support successful implementation.
• Participate in cross-functional implementation planning across the Pacific Life administrative systems ecosystem.
• Review XML files, database outputs, platform messages, and other data sources to identify configuration needs, defects, and root causes.
• Help improve business analysis practices by producing clear documentation, traceable requirements, and practical recommendations for complex platform needs.
The experience you bring:
• Strong understanding of Annuity Order Entry capabilities, including New Business, Forms Administration, Subpay, and post-issue transactions such as Fund Transfers and Withdrawals.
• Detailed knowledge of Annuity product features, new business workflows, distributor processing, and related regulatory considerations.
• Comprehensive grasp of the Annuity product lifecycle and administrative systems ecosystem.
• Working knowledge of ACORD and DTCC data and EDI standards, including PPfA, DPfA, APP/SUB, and IFT messaging.
• Ability to analyze XML files, database outputs, and system data to identify requirements, validate results, and support defect resolution.
• Advanced Business Analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, process analysis, acceptance criteria definition, stakeholder facilitation, and documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, critical thinking, and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, traceability, and clear communication.
• Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external partners at multiple organizational levels.
• 8+ years’ Annuity industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis experience focused on Annuity product support.
• 5+ years’ experience supporting Annuity products and services on Order Entry platforms through PPfA, forms-based, or wizard-based configuration.
What makes you stand out:
• Experience with third-party applications that support or extend the annuity order entry process.
• Experience applying AI or automation tools to improve Business Analysis, documentation, testing, or requirements management activities.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments or cross-functional working groups.
• Participation in industry forums or working groups such as IRI OPS Tech, DTCC/I&RS Advisory, or Order Entry vendor groups.
• Familiarity with JSON, APIs, transactional message formatting
• Business Analysis certification or equivalent education, training, or professional development.
