Bill Review Analyst Team Lead

Job Description

The Bill Review Analyst Team Lead plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the bill review team. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of medical bills, providing guidance and training for team members, and serving as a key liaison between staff and leadership. The Team Lead will also assist with quality assurance, process improvements, and act as a backup to the supervisor when needed.

This is a hybrid role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize and assign high-urgency bills, including those from priority clients and aging inventory
  • Review and resolve QA (Quality Assurance) default bills
  • Stay current on system enhancements and fee schedule updates; communicate relevant changes to the team
  • Assist the supervisor in maintaining and updating training materials, including jurisdiction-specific cheat sheets
  • Conduct and support training for new hires and cross-training for existing team members
  • Provide real-time support and troubleshooting assistance to team members on complex bill issues
  • Perform QA reviews for multiple team members, including bills processed by the supervisor
  • Support the supervisor with special projects and initiatives as they arise
  • Participate in monthly team meetings by contributing ideas and presenting updates or insights
  • Serve as the acting supervisor during their absence, ensuring continuity of operations
  • Engage in national bill review calls, as applicable
  • Process medical bills as needed to support team workflow and volume
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proven experience in medical bill review or a related healthcare administrative role
  • Strong understanding of billing systems, fee schedules, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, workers’ compensation billing guidelines and fee schedules
  • Ability to identify problems and find effective solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed organizational abilities as well as time management skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of data entry experience
  • Experience with Medical Bill Review preferred
  • Experience in training and mentoring team members is preferred

 

PAY RANGE:

CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location.  Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors:  federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions.  Our ranges may be modified at any time.

For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.  The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.

Pay Range:  $22.12- $33.05 per hour
