Employee Benefits Consultant

Summary:

The Employee Benefits Consultant will support a dedicated large national account client by partnering with the client’s benefits team, vendor partners, and the Strategic Non-Medical Solutions team to assist with the administration, analysis, communication, and continuous improvement of employee benefit programs. This role will contribute to day-to-day program management, client service, compliance support, vendor coordination, reporting, and employee experience initiatives. The Consultant will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support effective benefit program delivery and help identify opportunities to improve processes, communications, and outcomes.

Essential Duties and Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with client stakeholders, vendor partners, and internal team members to support successful administration of assigned benefit programs.
  • Support day-to-day benefit program operations, including issue resolution, vendor follow-up, employee inquiries, reporting, and coordination of assigned deliverables.
  • Contributes to project management activities for assigned benefits programs, including tracking timelines, documenting action items, supporting communication plans, and helping ensure deliverables are completed timely and effectively.
  • Partner with senior consultants, client contacts, and vendor teams to support employee education and benefit program communications, including open enrollment, ongoing program updates, and employee-facing materials.
  • Review benefit program data, reports, eligibility files, enrollment information, claims information, or other program outputs to identify discrepancies, research issues, and support remediation.
  • Participates in compliance-related activities by supporting documentation, audits, reporting requirements, plan administration reviews, and follow-up with client and vendor partners.
  • Monitors vendor management activities by helping monitor service delivery, performance guarantees, customer service measures, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying operational gaps, recommending practical solutions, and supporting implementation of new or improved workflows.
  • Conducts financial analysis, reporting requirements, audits, reconciliations, or other data-driven benefit program reviews as assigned.
  • Contributes to benefit projects, program rollouts, communication initiatives, and other duties as assigned by Team Leader/Manager.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in employee benefits, benefits administration, client service, project coordination, program management, HR operations, or a related role.
  • Working knowledge of group benefit plans, voluntary benefits, employee benefit administration, vendor coordination, or related HR/benefits processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with client contacts, vendor partners, and internal team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review data, reports, and documentation for accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively in a client-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive benefit-related information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications required, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting large employer benefit programs, voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness programs, or other employee benefit offerings.
  • Experience working with benefit vendors, eligibility files, enrollment data, claims reports, audits, or compliance-related documentation.
  • Prior experience supporting open enrollment, employee communications, project plans, or benefits-related change management.
  • Minimal travel as necessary for company meetings, program support and special projects.
