Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Inland Marine Claims Adjuster to join our in-office team (5 days/week) from our Omaha office.  Alternatively, this position can be filled in either our Albany, Chicago, League City (TX), Los Angeles, or Richmond (VA) offices.  This role reports to a manager in San Antonio, TX and focuses on handling complex Builder’s Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, and Motor Truck Cargo claims. In this role, you’ll work within defined authority, influence key financial outcomes, and collaborate closely with senior leadership, underwriters, TPAs, and specialty program partners.
 

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.
 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Working under limited technical direction and within broad limits and authority, adjudicate highly complex inland marine claims at defined authority levels.
  • Analyzing claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage.
  • Investigating claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
  • Solving difficult problems that requires an understanding of a broader set of issues.
  • Manage litigated files, set accurate reserves, and negotiate complex settlements.
  • Identifying, assigning, and coordinating the assignment and coordination of expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
  • Communicate emerging trends to senior management and underwriters.
  • Drive files to optimal financial outcomes through disciplined case management and creative problem-solving.
  • Maintain clear, professional documentation and correspondence.
  • Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Having an appreciation and passion for strong claim management.
     

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • An advanced knowledge of adjudicating Inland Marine claims and an exceptional focus on customer service typically achieved through:
    • 5+ years adjudicating commercial inland marine claims with exposures of $100,000+.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.   Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating commercial property or Inland Marine claims beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
    • Ability to obtain a NY General Adjuster License (or reciprocal TX/CA) within 3 months.
    • Familiarity with Guidewire and ImageRight preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Clearbrook and our customers’ ability to be profitable).

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
 

  • Richmond Pay Range:  $101,184  -  $119,782
     
  • Albany and Chicago Pay Range: $111,384  -  $132,498

  • Los Angeles Pay Range: $121,482 -  $144,636
