The Product Owner reports to the Director of Software Engineering and is responsible for understanding business needs and priorities at a strategic level while providing communication and coordination between the relevant business partners and development teams. This Product Owner role will focus on Claims, Billing, Agent and Member Experience domains, ensuring seamless delivery of digital products and services that directly impact member and agent interactions. Ultimately, the Product Owner is responsible for delivering each stage of development and the final product in alignment with stakeholder expectations.

 

Location: The successful candidate will work in a hybrid capacity between our Home Office in the Greater Seattle area, and remotely. Candidate must live within driving distance of our offices and have high-speed internet (internet speed test required).

 

Hiring Range: $120,361 - $135,231*

Salary Range: $120,361 - $151,037

Responsibilities

  • Working in alignment with stakeholders across Claims, HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing, define the vision for the development team. Use that vision and tools such as product roadmaps as both a strategic guide for stakeholders as well as an execution plan.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to align product roadmaps and digital capabilities with go-to-market strategies, agent recruitment initiatives, and member acquisition campaigns. Incorporate market feedback and competitive insights into product planning to support growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on workforce-related product features and internal tooling that supports employee and agent onboarding, training platforms, and HR-facing digital experiences. Ensure product decisions consider people and culture impacts across the organization.
  • Engage with Finance stakeholders to ensure product investments are aligned with budgetary constraints and ROI expectations. Support cost-benefit analyses, contribute to business case development, and provide transparency into development spend across assigned domains.
  • Manage the product backlog based on overall strategy and business objectives across assigned domains. Anticipate dependencies to inform the sequence of development.
  • Prioritize needs by balancing scope, budget, and time, weighing priorities based on the needs and objectives of stakeholders across Claims, HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing.
  • Oversee the stages of development. This includes working with stakeholders to plan the next steps, working with the team to refine the process, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the sprint.
  • Anticipate client, agent and member needs. Utilize tools such as customer journey mapping to create a shared vision for the customer experience across the member and agent lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary liaison and key communicator linking and creating alignment between stakeholders in Claims, HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing, and the development teams.
  • Evaluate product progress at each iteration. The Product Owner is accountable for each stage of the development process and the final product. Quickly adapt tools and solutions based on lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with Program/Project Managers and other Product Owners in an Agile community of practice to further Agile values in the IT Department.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles and processes.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance industry market conditions and trends, particularly as they relate to claims processing, billing systems, quoting and agent/member-facing platforms.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful track record of developing products within deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinker.

Education and Experience: 

  • Degree in business administration, or comparable experience, preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or equivalent certified product owner certification is nice to have.
  • Additional product management certifications (e.g., SAFe POPM, PMC) are a plus.
  • Experience working in Claims, Billing, or Member/Agent Experience domains in an insurance or healthcare setting preferred.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
  • Lifting of up to 15 pounds
