The Underwriting Technician supports underwriting units throughout the policy life cycle and provides services to various functions within the company as well as to external customers. The role is to help assist team members and underwriters with complex situations and help manage the ongoing workload ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
On various platforms with the following duties:
Manage tasks related to the underwriting policy lifecycle, including data entry and file maintenance.
Ensure the team meets productivity, quality, and timeliness standards.
Process tasks accurately to maintain departmental productivity, quality, and timeliness standards.
Process renewal information in the system.
Review and maintain underwriting files to warrant a “satisfactory” file completion.
Oversee the submission inbox daily and support clearing submissions.
Maintain a customer service mentality for both internal and external customers.
Review and respond to complex situations in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to absorb technical information
Self-motivation
Customer service skills
Experience:
Experience working in the insurance industry or as an assistant
Insurance knowledge preferred
Ability to use all Microsoft Office software and to be trained on Policy Administration/Claims systems.
Strong communications skills both written and oral.
Ability to interact with all organizational levels.
Basic computer skills, ability to use standard office equipment required.
The expected pay range for the role is $45,000 - $50,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and experiences. The disclosed pay range estimate may also be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
