Our Claims Insights team is currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst in our Worcester, MA location or remote work location.  This is a full-time, exempt role.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Sr. Data Analyst will use claims data to provide insight into business performance.  Responsibilities will include analyzing variances in loss results compared to plan, identifying and communicating potential areas for improvement within Claims or other functions, and building out reporting analytics to provide quicker and more comprehensive insights.  Analysis may span any segment or line of business across the company.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Analyze claims data and effectively communicate conclusions in writing and verbally to internal partners (claims, actuarial, finance, state management, underwriting, etc.)  Draw insights and observations from detailed and multifaceted claims data and reports.  Present findings to senior leaders.
  • Respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate.
  • Lead the development or enhancement of complex reports and tools for multiple lines of business.  Work independently and leverages resources when needed.
  • Quantify the impacts of internal operational changes and external trends on frequency, severity, and overall loss results.
  • Develop industry knowledge and internal data expertise to provide solutions to complex business questions.  Tuned into external industry trends and best practices.
  • Work in partnership with the team and management to generate innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, using existing information to its fullest potential.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field (math, finance, actuarial science, or analytics preferred).
  • 4-6+ years of related analytical and property & casualty industry experience preferred (e.g. actuarial, business analytics, or finance).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to perform exploratory data analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and intermediate knowledge of SQL; ability to efficiently work with large and complex data sets.
  • Comfortable turning raw data into meaningful information; ability to summarize complex business concepts into written and oral communications (including the use of PowerPoint).
  • Comprehends key industry financial/operational metrics.
  • Strong organization, project, and time management skills; ability to multi-task and meet all deadlines with quality product.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
