We are looking for a full-stack developer to join a growing InsurTech business unit (headquartered in Reigate) building market-leading insurance software with a focus on the development of modern SaaS based solutions.
You will join at a genuine inflection point: we are moving from AI-assisted coding toward an agentic software development lifecycle, where engineers increasingly describe intent, and orchestrate, review and govern the work that AI executes.
The Role
Today the role focuses on:
Working with the Product Owner to define, refine and deliver the product backlog.
Designing and building software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, using AI coding tools to accelerate delivery.
Writing and maintaining test-related code - unit tests, test frameworks and automated test cases.
Reviewing and debugging code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt.
Participating in Agile/scrum activities (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and continuously improving team velocity, process and engineering practice.
Participating in incident response and continuously harden the platform based on production learnings
The role will evolve and we expect more focus on:
Business outcomes - partnering closely with business stakeholders to understand underlying needs, challenge assumptions where appropriate, and measure success through tangible business and user outcomes.
Design over implementation - spending more time defining system boundaries, integration patterns and architectural intent, using AI-assisted tools to explore solutions and validate design decisions before code is written.
Specification as a first-class craft - writing clear, testable intent and acceptance criteria that agents and humans can both act on.
Review and quality judgement - evaluating AI-generated work for correctness, security and design fit, rather than typing every line yourself.
Orchestration - composing and supervising AI capabilities and agentic workflows inside governed pipelines with clear quality gates.
Raising the team, not just yourself - turning good individual practice into shared, reusable capability so the whole team gets faster, not just one person.
Learning and adaptation - staying current with emerging AI capabilities and engineering practices, helping the team identify, adopt and govern new ways of working that improve delivery and outcomes.
