Position Summary
The Electronic Security Technician supports the organization’s physical security program by installing, programming, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting IP-based electronic security systems in commercial and financial-services environments. This position is responsible for ensuring reliable operation, proper configuration, and continued performance of video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring and intercom systems across assigned facilities.
This role serves as a hands-on technical resource for security technology needs, including system diagnostics, field hardware performance, software programming, device connectivity, preventive maintenance, and service documentation. The technician is expected to evaluate issues efficiently, resolve service needs with minimal disruption, and communicate professionally with internal partners, branch personnel, vendors, and leadership.
The Electronic Security Technician contributes to a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, facilities and organizational assets by ensuring security systems are maintained in accordance with internal standards, applicable laws and regulations, manufacturer specifications and bank policies and procedures. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below represent the primary duties of this position. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
· Installation & configuration: Install, program, configure, test and service video surveillance systems, IP cameras, NVRs, access control hardware, intrusion alarms, intercoms, door contacts, card readers, request-to-exit devices and related field equipment.
· Preventive maintenance: Complete routine inspections, repairs and system health checks to support reliability, performance and continuity of security operations.
· Troubleshooting & repair: Diagnose and resolve issues involving hardware, software, cabling, network connectivity, power, device communication, programming, camera views, recording functionality, access permissions and alarm points.
· Service response: Respond to service requests in a timely and professional manner, prioritize work based on operational impact, and take appropriate action to minimize downtime and disruption.
· System updates: Program approved changes such as camera adjustments, door schedules, access levels, alarm zones, device replacements, user updates, and other security system modifications.
· Technical review: Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, floor plans, equipment manuals, technical specifications and manufacturer documentation to support installation and repair work.
· Documentation: Record service activity, system changes, equipment replaced, programming updates, troubleshooting steps, configuration details, testing results, and follow-up recommendations.
· Inventory & records: Maintain accurate records of equipment, parts, tools, system components, service tickets and assigned work to support audit readiness and operational continuity.
· Coordination: Partner with internal departments, branch personnel, facilities staff, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders to complete installations, repairs, upgrades and security-related projects.
· Continuous improvement: Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, standardization, documentation, preventive maintenance practices, and service response processes.
· Safety & compliance: Follow applicable safety procedures, company policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements while performing installation, maintenance and repair work.
· Confidentiality: Protect sensitive information, including security system data, facility layouts, camera locations, access control information, alarm details and proprietary materials.
· Team support: Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals through knowledge-sharing, project support, and a professional service-focused approach.
· Reporting: Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, security vulnerabilities, system deficiencies or policy issues to the appropriate supervisor, Human Resources or designated management contact.
· Other duties: Perform additional duties, projects, and responsibilities assigned by management.
