Wholesale Broker

Job Description

Position Summary:  The Broker is responsible for supporting the Lead Broker in servicing and placing commercial insurance accounts, with the goal of developing into a Lead Broker role. This position offers hands-on experience in market submissions, coverage analysis, client and carrier negotiations, and new business development. Ideal for someone eager to grow their career in commercial insurance while building strong client and market relationships.

Essential Tasks:

  • Supporting the Lead Broker with the goal of gaining knowledge of their responsibilities and becoming a Lead Broker.
  • Assist in the service and market placement of Lead Broker’s portfolio.
  • Learn the technical aspects of the account placement process, including creation of submission, evaluation of submission for exposures and required coverages, identifying missing information, market direction, pricing, contract language, follow through with markets, and quoting to clients.
  • Working with Lead Broker to learn successful account placement communication and negotiating strategies with insurance companies and clients.
  • Participate in building new individual relationships and strengthening current relationships with clients through contact and sales calls along side the Lead Broker.
  • Supporting Lead Broker in the achievement of targeted revenue goals.
  • Gaining broad knowledge of commercial insurance and company product lines.
  • Ability to travel.

Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial and wholesale insurance
  • History of being able to build trusted working relationships
  • Highest level of customer relationship skills, sales management and negotiating talent to drive results

Licensing and Credentials:

  • Property & Casualty and other relevant state licenses are preferred but not required

Systems:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
  • Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
  • Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-key
  • Walking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directions
