A Senior Network Engineer has 7+ years of experience which could involve the leading or management of a team having proficiency and understanding of various types of networking hardware. They have a proficiency and understanding of various types of networking hardware, they are responsible for overseeing an organization’s network infrastructure to ensure proper maintenance and security compliance with applicable regulatory audit requirements. They design, upgrade, and implement, maintaining the network infrastructure on-prem or cloud which includes but not limited to firewalls, routers, switches, VPN appliances, and other physical networking hardware for the organization. Installing and configuring network equipment to update or fix hardware issues. Their duties include working with other IT staff and company employees to identify network or computer system needs, establishing network or firewall-related changes for legitimate business traffic or cybersecurity related reasons and overseeing the installation of new infrastructure hardware or software.

BACKUP/RECOVERY: Proficient understanding in all levels of Backup and Recovery, including PO/RTO.
NETWORKING: Expertise in diverse systems and a broad knowledge of various elements of the network system and how each element can impact security. Firewalls, Proxies, VPN, SIEM, DHCP, DNS, EDR, Antivirus, ATP, IPS and IDPS. Expert-level knowledge of core protocols TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and others. Using monitoring tools to analyze performance and integrity.
NETWORK SECURITY: Establishing and enforcing security policies, configuring firewalls, managing access. Supporting regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC, PCI, state DOI, NYDFS) through proper controls, documentation, and evidence. Networking device management, access authentication following defined security protocols.
NETWORK DESIGN: Designing, implementing, and overseeing complex LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, WLAN, SASE infrastructures. Expertise in cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP) and wireless network designs. Designing networks aligned with business goals and continuity moving beyond simple configuration to designing resilient, scalable architectures.
OPERATING SYSTEMS: Experienced in all types of operating systems, platforms, and their command line tool options, including but not limited to Azure Cloud, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, FortiOS, Linux
INFORMATION SECURITY: Knowledge of the processes, tools, and techniques of Information Security Management. Ability to deploy and understand information security logs being digested into SIEM or residing in any local logging, correlate these logs, and identify any malicious behavior on the network.
