JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for determining property valuations, especially on large/complex accounts, based primarily
on property surveys, diagrams and photos provided by agents. Assist underwriters in matters of
construction features of a property to assist in the acquisition and retention of profitable business through
proper valuations.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Calculate the square foot area, quality/type of construction, location, and other value contributing
features of large/complex buildings to arrive at proper building replacement cost and actual cash
value.
- Input data into the estimating system(s) to obtain final large/complex building cost valuation.
- Communicate analyzed data to the appropriate underwriter, rater or agent.
- Input commercial and residential valuation detail into the Property Survey Master file and keep the
file current with any changes or revisions that are given to Underwriting about a property once a
policy has been written.
- Participate as instructor in agent schools and in-house onboarding of new agents and
underwriters regarding the property estimation function and APEX drawing software.
- Maintain production at a level so that subsequent processors in the workflow line can meet
production deadlines.
- Accurately update and maintain values on existing large/ complex insured properties.
- Accurately complete the designated number of estimates set by management.
- Serve on committees or teams when requested.
- Make field inspections of properties when requested by agent or underwriter.
- Project a positive and professional personal and corporate image in order to gain the confidence
of agents, underwriters and prospective and existing insureds.
- Complete other projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Must meet the company established competency standard for business writing skills.
- Demonstrate solid computer knowledge or experience.
- Must be able to read construction blueprints.
- Must have command of the English language-both oral and written.
- Need to have decision-making skills and be able to make independent decisions.
- Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department
staff members.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of the INS, or ARM designation or equivalent desired.
- Must have at least three years of estimating experience or equivalent experience.
- Associate's degree in business, insurance or engineering is desired.
- Completion of an appraisal course and/or a property appraiser’s license is desired.
- CPCU or other insurance designation(s) is desired.
- Five years or more of estimating experience or equivalent experience is desired.
- Prior experience in property insurance, building construction, and/or real estate valuation is
desired.
