MEMIC is looking for a dynamic Underwriter to develop our Small Business segment in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, and we want someone with the passion and presence to make big things happen.

As our Express Production Underwriter, you’ll be the face of MEMIC to independent agents and brokers across the region—cultivating long-term partnerships, uncovering opportunities, and driving profitable growth for accounts under $50,000 in premium. This is a high‑visibility, high‑impact role where your expertise and initiative won’t just be appreciated—they’ll be essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, expand, and nurture strong relationships with independent agents and brokers throughout the MA, CT and RI territory.
  • Evaluate insurance submissions to ensure profitability and performance while delivering exceptional service.
  • Partner closely with underwriting analysts to uphold high standards of quality and responsiveness.
  • Recruit new agency partners and elevate the performance of existing relationships.
  • Collaborate with Middle Market and Loss Sensitive partners to drive strategy and execution.
  • Conduct market research and bring fresh ideas that keep MEMIC competitive and growing.

Where You’ll Work

📍 You must be based in Massachusetts or Connecticut to effectively cover your territory.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CPCU or insurance designation preferred.
  • 2+ years of technical P&C underwriting experience
  • Strong marketing instincts and the confidence to represent MEMIC in the market.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a hands-on, results‑driven approach.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the territory.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and decisive judgment.
  • A proactive mindset with the initiative to drive outcomes independently.
