Facilities Technician I

Location Requirement: On-Site, Downtown Des Moines

Essential Functions:

  • With guidance, completes work orders such as moving and installing equipment, refrigerators/appliance, files, chairs, tables, boxes, etc., workstation/furniture adjustments, and performs furniture assembly as assigned.

  • Sets up meeting rooms, conference rooms, dining rooms, and classrooms for daily functions.

  • Perform routine detail of fleet cars and assists with shuttling fleet cars to mechanics for repairs

  • Maintains the exterior of the campus. Picks up trash and debris from the parking garage and parking lots.

  • Completes sidewalk maintenance, such as power-washing and snow removal. Maintains landscaping and minor irrigation repairs.

  • Reports anomalies as noted to people leader

  • Under supervision, completes assigned work orders, such as minor plumbing fixture repairs in restrooms, kitchens, and break rooms, minor electrical lighting repairs in office spaces and common areas, and/or other maintenance related tasks.

  • Assists with filter replacements and HVACR repairs. With guidance performs maintenance on mail conveyors and related equipment.

  • Performs work by following all local and national codes and regulations of safe work practices

  • Completes corporate safety and learning courses assigned to facilities team.

  • Shadows experienced facilities team members to learn company policies and procedures and gain experience in facilities.

  • Consults experienced facilities technicians to gain understanding and best practices to build basic skills for performing routine tasks.

  • Serves as a member of EMC’s Emergency Response Team for building and medical emergencies.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency

  • Experience or training/ education in building maintenance or related field preferred

  • Possess or be willing to obtain CPR/AED certification through EMC in first year

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Basic technical knowledge of lighting equipment and plumbing systems

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, construction, installation, and other related functions

  • Basic knowledge of door hardware and locking mechanisms

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work early or late based on shift schedules

  • A valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving

 

 

The hiring salary range for this position will fall within the following range:

$20 - $26.25

A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, and business needs.
