Job Description:
The Manager, Accounting, is responsible for the complete and accurate reporting of financials, ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support business objectives while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
A Manager follows the direction of senior management and ensures that the team or department is properly staffed, employees have the training and tools needed, OKRs are achieved, and the department operates within approved budgets. This role serves as a tactical leader responsible for day-to-day operations, decision-making, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including review of both internal and external reporting
Oversee billing processes to confirm accuracy and completeness of revenue
Ensure liabilities are properly recorded, including accruals for unapproved invoices
Maintain strong controls, documentation, and segregation of duties across the function
Partner with internal and external audit teams as needed
Accounting Operations
Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoice payments
Oversee accounts receivable processes, including collections, payment application, and reserve/write-off recommendations
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and ensure proper documentation of account balances
Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals
Hire, train, evaluate performance, and provide ongoing feedback to team members
Assign and prioritize work to meet service targets and deadlines
Communicate departmental policies, procedures, and strategy
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes
Partner with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals
Provide consultative support to stakeholders across the business
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and values
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
6–8+ years of relevant accounting experience
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience managing or leading teams
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, a strong combination of the following experience is highly desirable:
Experience with Workday Financials
Knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606)
Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business model
Background in banking, fintech, or financial services
Experience managing offshore or global resources
Familiarity with IDSW capitalization (internal-use software accounting)
Knowledge of lease accounting (ASC 842)
